The Standard Model (abandoned) 1989

"It seemed to me that this was the inevitable destiny of The Standard Model of science. By it's very nature it was meant to implode, to question itself out of existence and again--into the unknown." --Stephen Rueckert

Two years after exhibiting my sculpture, The Standard Model (abandoned) at Brookhaven National Laboratory, an article appeared in the Cern Courier--Journal of International High Energy Physics, titled "Looking for New Physics."  Jose Valle wrote, " The problem with the Standard Model of particle physics is that while it is very successful, it's predictive power has run out of steam," adding "A major objective is to look beyond the Standard Model."
