"On-On-On"
1993
"The work consists of four consoles, or work stations, arranged in a grid and mounted on painted steel bases, each possessing its own unique composition of materials. One console houses solar panels which supply power to the entire system. Another console contains glowing light-emitting diodes (LEDS) embedded in cast concrete. A third consoles resembles a "turn of the century" laboratory. A mail slot labeled "Future Dreams" is incorporated into this unit and viewers may insert written wishes for the future into this slot, depositing them directly into the sculpture. The fourth unit exhibits a textured surface consisting of 452 toggle switches housed in an airplane-wing type construction. "On-On-On" celebrates the beauty of science and technology, this piece explores the relationship between man and machine." A Public Art Program Organized by the Public Art Fund Inc. NYC
